Rossmoor, CA – History

Rossmoor, California was first developed from 1955-1961 by Ross W. Cortese (who later went on to develop the very successful gated retirement community of Leisure World in Seal Beach). Although it is not part of the city of Los Alamitos, it serves under the Los Alamitos sphere of influence and was even proposed to be annexed by the city. Rossmoor was also proposed to be annexed by the neighboring city of Seal Beach as well.

Rossmoor is easily distinguishable from neighboring communities. There is a signature Red Brick wall that surrounds the unincorparated city. Rossmoor is mostly made up of Single Family Residences, with over 3,430 single family homes! Rossmoor is great for people looking to settle down and raise a family or also for people who want to downsize and move to a quiet and peaceful community.
